Nout Wellink

Nout Wellink (1943) is President of De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) since 1 July 1997. He has been a member of the Governing Board since 1 January 1982. Before joining DNB, he followed a career at the Ministry of Finance from 1970 until 1982, holding successive posts as member of the economics staff, executive director of the General Financial and Economic Policy Department and treasurer-general. From 1965 to 1970, he worked as a student research assistant and later as a researcher at Leiden University, where he had read Dutch Law from 1961 until 1968. He obtained his doctorate from the Economics Faculty at the Erasmus University, Rotterdam, in 1975.
